Support mikelane's open source workI work on open-source software that prioritizes correctness, clarity, and long-term sustainability.

Most of my projects sit around developer tooling, testing, infrastructure, and systems design. I’m especially interested in areas where small design decisions quietly compound into large operational or cognitive costs over time.

I tend to build tools and libraries that are:

  • Explicit rather than magical
  • Testable by design
  • Opinionated in service of maintainability
  • Informed by real production failures, not hypotheticals

Why sponsorship matters

Sponsorship helps create space for the kind of work that’s increasingly hard to justify on a deadline:

  • Thinking carefully before shipping
  • Writing documentation that actually teaches
  • Maintaining projects long after the initial release
  • Resisting shortcuts that feel fine now but hurt later

I don’t gate code or features behind sponsorship. Open source stays open.

If you’ve found value in my work, my writing, or my approach to engineering problems, your support helps make more of that work possible.

@mikelane

Reaching 10 sponsors would give me consistent space to invest more time in thoughtful open-source work: better documentation, deeper design exploration, and long-term maintenance of the tools I care about. It’s less about the number and more about knowing this work is useful to others.
